Richard.

Check out Robs site there is a section on the centre console conversion.
The seats and cards are a straight swop!.

all should fit but you will need the later type heater control unit as it has a spacer ,the knobs will not fit your original one. i have done this conversion, and got round it by bonding my old unit to the new consul.i have now got the later heater control unit and will fit it at some stage.. hope this helps............mel.......

As Mark and Mel say, the conversion is pretty straightforward: the seats are a direct swap (although be aware that later, post 2003 (?) have a different SRS harness connector, so get 2002 TF seats if possible). Door cards are easy, but the console is a little more work.

These pages should be of some help:

rob i was told i can swap the seat belt tensioners with the ones on my car as connection will be same i was hoping to just fit the heater knbs in place of originals as i prefer the older style center console.

Richard... On the tensioners front...

If the ones on the seats you have ordered come with red connectors on the end you can use those straight into your 98 mgf connectors already in the car - no need to swap the tensioners over on the seats.

However, if the new seats come with yellow connectors on the tensioners then just (as you say) take the tensioners off your old seats (only one bolt on the side) and swap them with the tensioners on the new seats. You will then be left with a set of tensioners that only people with quite new TFs will be able to take off your hands...

Cheers and hope that makes sense - it just kind of backs up what Rob said above :-)

Nice one Chris - that neatly side steps the compatibility issue :o)

>> i was hoping to just fit the heater knbs in place of originals as i prefer the older style center console <<

Richard, if you want to fit the TF heater control knob to the original heater control unit, then you'll find the 'stalk' of the control knob will be too long. It may be a simple case of cutting them down to size, but I don't know this for sure...

A ps on the tensioners... if you do end eBaying them if you have to.... I only got £15 for mine in the end.. but the guy said he would have paid £80 for them... how gutted was I :-( so, first time you put them on if you do.. put a high reserve! :-)

thanks chris/rob i will probably put them on as wife has just found out how much i paid for trim (she thinks i have spent too much already but how much is too much !) i will try to cut them down when i get them and measure how much i need to cut off with a vernier and will post results on here as it may help someone else. wife is taking a day off on fri to be home when delivery of trims arrives ( so i think she dosent mind that much!!!!)
