Hi Daren,

No harm in replacing the n/s/r bearing, that is often the first to go anyway. Not come across the upper balljoints wearing, can you actually feel movement in it? Replacement doesn't look too tricky, but you need a wedge to hold the suspension up (soft wood is useless for this, mahogany ought to do it...), and you'll need a fairly large balljoint separator.
I'd guess it's a standard part from the Metro parts bin so shouldn't be too hard to get hold of.

When you grip the wheel and shake it, which direction is the free play?

thanks mike item ordered from b&g £9.50 had it split once but not removed from hub just hoping its not stuck in thread. yes movement can be felt on lifting car wheel moves left to right and up and down just like a worn bearing.

problem now solved not wheel bearing as mot tester thought not upper ball joint as i first thought but turned out to be teack control arm inner bush rang b&g for bush only to find out it comes fixed to the complete arm cost of =£166+vat all in all an expensive mot. ahhhh well summers here now.

That's a surprise I bought the outer bush no problem. I hope B&G suggested the alternative of poly bushes which are available separately. Much cheaper for the bits. Much better result. The only downside is you have to do both sides.
Ken Waring

b&g said inner bush wasn't listed only complete arm available. looking on mgf manual bush isn't a separate part.
