MG MGF Technical - Want your head re-worked?

Hi guys,

just heard that MGWorld are looking for someone with an MGF who is interested in getting their cylinder head fettled.

Details are still a bit sketchy, but the work will be performed by a new company [Sabre Developments] based in Southampton by a chap who learnt his trade at Janspeed (who are reknown experts in K-series tuning, and do a lot of work for Powertrain projects etc with such engines as the 190 VHPD used in the Lotus 340R and the MGF Cup racers on their CV).

The work will be subsidised (by virtue of the MGW connection), and specifications will be to your requirements - so considerable flexibility is there. You want big valves sir - then big valves you can have... suits you! ;o)

An ideal project for those whose cylinder head may have been removed for other reasons... ;o)

I suspect that the desire will be to work on the 1.8MPi head - but I guess this is something that is open to discussion.

If you are interested in participating in this project (as you were probably going to go down this route at some stage anyway) then drop me a line, and I'll put you in contact with MGW and this tuning chap :o)

The 1.6 is the same head and the VVC won't show the amazing gains.

Dr Bell, you know you want to...... :o)

tim woolcott

Will - yup :o)

Tim - nope ;o)

Better explain the latter response! Yes, I really would like to do this (Phil is effectively giving me first refusal) - but I am content to stay in standard class MGCCSC, so a ported head is simply not on the agenda for me at present.

In the future maybe...

... so rather than be greedy, I'll let you chaps have first shot! :o)

Will - if you want your "new" 1.6 head fettled, then go for it (and get the rest of the car featured in MGW!)

Let me know. :o)
Rob Bell

8-( the 216 went for £750, so I didn't get it. Now looking at the sandy auction, a 416 where the airbags have gone off
Will Munns

Good luck Will! :o)

For a moment the thread title had me thinking this was a posting by Paul from Rayleigh.
Had me fooled

......Incoming.......

Tin hats everybody !!!!!! :-)
Grahame

The guy's happy to do 1.6 and VVC heads - he's had involvement with the former but not the latter.

As regards Rob's car, can't you just get the work done without telling the marshalls? :o))

Cheers

Now there's a thought! ROFL! Perhaps I ought to install afterburners in the exhaust too? Oh, on second thoughts, they'd possibly notice that ;o)
