MG MGF Technical - Water leak near the mirror!

Hi to all

I have notice a very heavy water leak thru the
cheater that holds the mirror..
Dose anyone have any suggestions to stop the leak ??

Thanks
Frank

Frank,

I think its something to do with the mirror cheater needing adjustment.

Something to do with it blocking the channel the water runs down, along the side of the windscreen.

Think there are a few solutions, but as i have the same problem at times, I'll also be watching out for any replies.

Is one of the solutions to "reinforce" the channel with a bit of tubing?

rubber tube in the channel works a real treat.

Tube trick didn't work for me, so I adjusted the cheater to stop it pressing the seal so tightly. This worked better, although in very heavy rain it still leaked a little.

Have a look at Dieter's site

also have a look at the top edge of the mirror mount hwere it meets the A-post. After seven futile attempts by Rover who doggedly replaced door seal after door seal, I finally cured a leak myself on both sides by trimming heavy moulding lines off the top edge of the mount, thus allowing the A-post seal to lie straight.

This is how i cured the leak..
At the top of the "A" frame ,a made a small hole in the rubber sealing, and then entered inside a sponge material . This made the rubber, to seal better the window .
