MG MGF Technical - Wet Area Behind Drivers Seat.

Evening All.
We have been having a lot of rain lately,I have noticed the area of carpet at the back of the drivers seat is soaked.I have also noticed that sometimes there are droplets of water half way down on the panel behind the seat.
The soft top seals seem to be ok and there are no damp patches around the door seals.
Has anybody had a similar problem? Can anybody advise me where the problem area is?
Than You.

Could be coming through where the hood meets the bodywok near the door catch. There is usually a small gap there where the wind can blow rain in.

Another place to search is under the parcel shelf carpet. Although there is a T bar across behind the top of the seats there is no obstruction to stop water draining under the T bar from that area, and down behind the seats. Therefore any water which makes its way under the rear edge of the hood will eventually fall down behind the seats, if it isn't dried off by travelling around/across the hot engine hatch under the parcel shelf carpet. Lift the rear of the hood up by undoing the catches under the rear window. Check for gaps in the channel where the panel joints are. Check for calcium deposits UNDER the carpet on the rear shelf and behind the seats.

dk,

I have exactly the same problem.

I suspect it is the gap between the hood and body work.

I'm sure that SF posted a solution to this problem within the past 2 years. He is busy packing for the Treffen on saturday and may not logon today.

Can I suggest searching the ARCHIVE using a few creative keywords.

I have the same problem with dampness. I have managed to trace it to the rear screen of the soft top(bottom corner). Water tends to pool at the bottom of the screen on the drivers side. Somehow this manages to leak through onto the interior metal bar that the soft top material is wrapped around. Eventually this leaks into the engine cover area which then proceeds down the back panel to the drivers side carpeting. I have tried re-waterproofing but it does not seem to make much of a difference, I believe it could be seeping through the zip in the bottom corner or possibly a very small hole in the screen itself. I'm still working on a solution but if anyone has a suggestion then please let me know.

I have noticed the same dampness as Gary around the rear window.I will see if the problem continues as the hard top will be coming out in a few months. Thanks for the replies
