MG MGF Technical - Wet Seats

Hi Again.

Another little problem if anyone could help?

Came to our mg this morning both seats wet on outside corners,
Never happened before, but last night parked car on forward slope, is normally parked level!.
I assume water is getting in on roof to windscreen seal, but seems no adjustment left on roof catches.

will it require a new windscreen seal, or am i looking in the wrong place?.

Can see loads of WET PATCH jokes here then!!.

Many thanks again.

Mark.

Sorry Mark, fresh out of WET PATCH jokes today. Was it , perhaps, a snail that got in?

My old F got wet in the same place - it was definitely the windscreen to room join. If you look you should (better WILL) see a small gap between rubber on glass right at top front. You may just be able to put key point in the hole.

I guess it can be stopped but after 2 years I changed the car to a TF instead. For those 2 years I kept a small hand towel to place on the outside corner of the seat. This was enough to stop the rain running down the seat side onto the sitty on bit. My seats were half leather so the fabic seat section soaked rain up like a sponge. I only applied the towel if it looked like raining - I also got lots of wet seats when I guessde wrong.

See Tony's site for leak limitation steps http://www.apttony.co.uk/

Good luck

Cant see any holes like you said ,but does look like thats where its getting in!.
There is a page for wet seats{here we go again} but is blank?.
Mine are red cloth, now look like the beach after the tides gone out!.

Know anybody selling a set of seats, any colour but RED?!.

Thanks again John.

Used seats probably from MGF Centre (believed to be on hols at moment), speak to Victoria

or Midlands MGF (I believe that's right, haven't used them for a couple of years).

There was a page for wet seats on ultimateMG site but link not working. Believe Rob is in Australia at moment but I've put a note on the site for him.

If you're changing your seats, go for leather.
Steve Madden

Unless you are a muesli jumper and jesus sandal person when leather may not be alowed.

Midland MGF are tending to put their seats on eBay now... user is mgf123 if I remember correctly... I know that because I got my blue alcantara ones from them through eBay....
