MG MGF Technical - Wheel repair or replace?

Ive been losing air from one tyre, apparently its leaking around the rim. I had it rebeaded, but the problem persists, garage recommended that I replace the wheel.

Is this the only option or can I have the wheel refurbished?

If I have to replace the wheel, any suggestions where I can get one in the manchester area? its a 98 VVC.

thanks in anticipation

Provided the leak is due to a rough surface and not a crack in the alloy, a refurb should do the trick. Have clip-on balancing weights been used?

look up wicked wheels in manchester yell.com and see if they can help.

ChipsAway often do a wheel service as well (or know where it can be done) ... WheelsAway or similar?
John Ponting

When they "rebeaded" it did they do anything at all to your wheel inner lip surface?
If not then take it back to them and get them to use some very fine emery wet and dry paper around the sealing edge.
That will smooth out any rough spots and hopefully seal properly. They should have done a leak test before they gave it back to your. Slack!

"Clip on wheel weights" are not normally used for these wheels.
Usually they use stick on weights on the inside surface.

I got my wheels refurbed by a company called Prestige Wheels - mobile company based in Derbyshire but I think they cover the Manchester area too. £50 per wheel - really nice work :)

I think there's a 'WheelsAway' service in Manchester too... my friend parked her mini near the 'International' venue a couple of years ago and came back to find the car up on bricks and all 4 wheels gone :o I'm not recommending their service though as they still haven't returned them so it's impossible to assess the quality :-P

Al

you can tell whether "wheelsaway" offer a quality service or not by checking the bricks, If they are engineering (blue) bricks then they know what they are doing, standard red huse bricks are liable to crumble :P
