MG MGF Technical - Window Stop again (but diferent fix?)

Hi all.

Until yesterday I had a problem with the height of the passenger window (driver window for the UK people :)).
I read some descriptions before so I had no doubts it was a broken window stop when I bought the MK3 version. Dismantled the door panel and speaker as per the great instructions on ??? site (MGF World).
Well, to my shock I found that my window stop is already the MK3 version and it isn't broken.
What was wrong was the stopper on the top of the door (don't know the correct name...), that is: the thing that receives the struck from the window stop. Sorry, if that isn't a very good description...
Aparently the window stop mated the part in the door on a poor place, very near its edge. It eventualy wore out and the window stop was passing by it. The door became difficult to open and so on... Took some pictures with Joćo Barros Gomes' help. Where can I post them? Anyone?
The solution was to get something that could work as a spacer and that way move the stopper further out, that is: closer to the glass, so that it could receive the window stop in a proper way.
It's impossible to understand this thread without seeing the pictures, I think. Has this happened before to anyone?

Cheers, Valter.

Valter,

E-mail the pictures to me and I'll put them on my website. Just keep the files sizes reasonable with regards to download time for me. ;-)

Paul,

I've e-mailed you the pictures, when do you think they'll be online? BTW, the window is now perfect, as this "stopper" also allows adjustment on height.

Thanks, Valter.
Valter

Valter,

I got the pictures thanks - not had time to do anything with them yet as I've been a little snowed under with other things that have needed doing more urgently. I'll try and get them on my site tomorrow time permitting. ;-)
Paul Lathwell

Just done them - only put 3 of them on the site though, see the PhotoFile section...

I'm confused (it doesn't take much, I hear you cry).

Does the item in the picture attach to the glass or to the door? If it's to the door then I can understand but what was the modification?
The height of my stoppers are always adjustable; on the door.

Ok Bruce.

I'll have another try. :) This part attaches to the door and yes, it's adjustable in height. As you can see from the pictures, the window stop was reaching this part very near it's edge. With time it corrupted the plastic (even cutted one bit of it) and was overpassing the "stopper".

The three washers shown weren't there! It was only the part and the nut. With this washers you can actually move outwards the part. That is from the exterior to the interior: "Stopper" - washers - door(steel plate) -nut. That way the window stop will meet this item in a proper way. This is obviously a bad assembly reason...
Hope I've been clear.
But I'm the first one to notice this?

Valter.

Hi Paul, I notice your "Photo File" button reads "fotofile" when you do a mousover. Is this intended or is it an error?

Thanks for the explanation Valter, I understand now.

And hi to Tony. Tony Smith isn't it? Didn't you have probs with your job in Utrecht, sold your MGF and were looking in Ireland for another job or have I got the wrong Tony? The only reason I remember this is because it happened around the time I was made redundant. Are you still in Utrecht?

cheers

Bruce, yup that's me, I finally got a job in Holland so I'm staying here. The job came just in time to save my House but two months too late to save my F. Now I'm on a two year plan to save up and get another F (maybe a second hand Trophy :-).

The computer contract market in Holland died for a couple of years now so I'm now in a permie job with KLM. Besides Ireland is not ready for me yet :-)
