MG MGF Technical - Window stops!

I bought some new window stops for my '96 MGF at the weekend and after fitting the first one, I pressed the elec window button, it raised and then snapped the new window stop instantly!!

AAARRGH! WHY?

I know there are newer versions of the stop than the one my dealer had in stock but surely they shouldn't snap at the first try??

Fitted new window stops to mine a couple of days ago. There are three versions of the window stops:

(a) white plastic
(b) orange plastic
(c) black plastic washer and window stop, with a metal bolt.

The first two designs are notorious for breaking, while the third is infinitely stronger as it incorporates a metal screw.

The part numbers you'll need (for each door) are:

SS105161 (screw)
CVT100090 (washer)
CUQ100140 (window stop)

It will cost about £2.50 for each door.

Hope this helps,

Agreed Dieter - I think it's a case of ignorance. When I ordered the parts from my local MGR dealer, they told me these items had never been ordered from them before!!!

Many thanks chaps!

Will order the new ones and do both sides, as its such an easy job.

On this topic, what is the latest bbs approved way of resolving the window cheater problem?

Think best method i can find so far is reinforcing the drain channel with a piece of tubing inserted inside, so that the window cheater doesn't block channel.

any other inovations?
