MG MGF Technical - window stops ... again

Well, The F's just over a year old and the windows have started opening in all different directions. I assume this is the window stops. The car's out of warranty (imported), so it looks like a DIY job.

I'm sure that I have seen websites detailing how to (1) remove the door inserts from a Y2K F and (2) change the window stops, but for the life of me I can't remember where they were.

Any advice? Are these new Mk3 stops mentioned on another thread the ones to go for?

On that site the window stops bit seems to still be 'under construction'.

The quest continues.

David,

I have actually started to put together the same article for the MGF/TF FAQ - honest! Unfortunately, other things have meant I've not had time to finish it yet - but it's not forgotten and will be done soon. ;-)

Sorry David,
For giving you the wrong address.
Replaced mine recently and I couldn't remember where the site was. Looked at Paul's site and saw the title so investigated no further. But, in fact I did use those excellent instructions at http://www.mgfworld.co.uk/windowstop.htm
You will probably have to make a small adjustment to the window height.

cheers

David, if your car is only 1 year old i'd very suprised if it didn't have the newest (non break) model of the window stops. My car ia 1997 but i fitted the newest style of stop probably 2 anf a half years ago so they have been used for ages. Maybe it could be something else or maybe they really have broken, i've never heard of the newest stops breaking before, perhaps other have.
Paul

For those of you interested the article about how to change the window-stops originally written by Richard Eaton is now in the MGF/TF FAQ....

Paul,

Hmm. I did wonder. Perhaps I'll go and ask B&G what they think first.

Paul Preston,
My 2001my Trophy had a problem with the Drivers door window stop recently, exactly what I don't know but it sounded like the window was slipping past it with a resounding clunk, it was fixed under warranty.
