MG MGF Technical - Window - stuck

Hi everyone, sorry for raising this subject again but I am having problems. I have searched for an answer previously to no avail.
Initially my window was not going up very well and had to be helped by pulling it whilst pressing button - it went down fine - so I ordered the window stop kit, but now the window wont go up or down and I havent even fitted the kit. Luckily the window is stuck in the up position not down (Phew!)

So... ...im wondering, could the problem now be the motor? I press the button and it clicks but no movement. And if it was the motor: is it easy to replace? Any instructions too will be great - with pics if poss as im a novice. I've took the door panel off but looks too difficult to attempt.

Any help would be great - thanks in advance

Have you had a look at Dieter's terrific MGF resource
http://www.mgfcar.de/
There is an english translation, although it takes a liitle cunning to work out what some of it means. On the left hand frame you will find several references to window jobs with pictures. The whole site is packed with things you won't find anywhere else.
There's also http://www.apttony.co.uk/ and of course Rob Bell's http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/

Good Luck

Thanks very much Mike

I'll take a look but if its too difficult then i'll take it to my local garage with my new window stop. I've tried find a motor from my local scrap yard but theres not an MGF to be found anywhere!

If its like mine then its not the motor.
The window guide on the back side of the slider type thing has bent away (if that makes any sense) when the window goes up it pushes it forward (the guide being there to stop it)as well as up and jams the window into the front guide.
I've tried bending it back but looks like a small plastic pin has fallen out as well so need a new one myself!

With my previous MGF it was not the motor but just the switch. I dismantled and cleaned it and it was fixed.

Its likely to be the regulator assembly or window guide, not the motor, that is causing the problem.

Hi all
Thanks for your help.
I found out what the problem is. I eventually removed the window then took apart the window mechanism. I removed the motor and opened it up. I noticed that the centre of the gear mechanism had worn away and the motor was jammed with dust type stuff which was probably the plastic teeth on the gears that had worn away.
Looks like i'll have to buy a new motor or complete unit from an internet auction site or something as its completely unrepairable. I need some new fingers too as they're very sore.

I'll try to work out how to attach a pic so you can all see.

Now I just need to stop the water leaking all over my seats as the window is held in place with some wood in the door panel! Dont you just love the weather in the UK?!
