MG MGF Technical - Windows badly scratched

Afternoon all, since I am trying to get everything sorted on the 'F' for the summer, here's another one for you.
By the way message for Tim Jenner, I got the exhaust bracket, £5 ish, now standard fit accross 200 and 400's, also ZR they tell me, anyway, may have a go at fitting myself coz downpipe nuts should still be like new, if they used new ones, I only had it replaced for the third time a month ago!
Anyway, on to the latest item on my list, the passenger and driver windows are badly scratched, where the window would meet the seal at the top and rear of the roof/hardtop, right along the edge.
Anyone know if this will polish out and why it has been caused? It's like the rubber has been doing it, and with the roof down especially looks c**p!
What do new side windows cost?
Many thanks all.

Ian...try Autoglym Glass Polish. This works like a cutting paste, and provided the scatches aren't too deep should remove them OK

Ian,

Thanks for the update about the bracket - good luck and keep us informed!

Cheers,
Tim.

Ian,

I removed quite a long fairly deep scratch from my windscreen (worn blade)using jewellers rouge mixed with AG glass polish to make a paste.

Took a bit of polishing but it did remove it without distortion, hope it helps.

Once again thank you very much!

SP were do you get Jewellers Rouge and AG glass polish because I have a long scratch caused by the passenger wiper and I would like to give this a try before purchasing a new windscreen.

Hi Chris,

I mamaged to scrounge some of the jewellers rouge powder from my local Autoglass depot (try any local replacement screen glass company)as I would guess that they use it if they have (or cause!)a similar prob.

Failing that you could try a jeweller or maybe antique's restoration outfit.

AG = Autoglym (glass polish)

Thanks Steve,

I will give auto glass and Halfords a visit.
