MG MGF Technical - Windscreen demister bolts - how?

Iv'e just bought a Tonneau cover and to fit it I need to remove the M8 bolts that hold the demisters in place on top of the dash and replace them with a different bolt.
All the socket/ratchet sets Iv'e tried are too long to fit over the bolt as the windscreen is in the way.
There must be something around - any suggestions please ?

Are they allen type bolts or bolts with heads(can't remember!)If they are allen type bolts you may be able to get a tool bit in from electric screwdiver set or similar and use a spanner to turn them or if bolts, a deep ring spanner - you have got my curiosity going now and I'm going to look when I get home :)
Tony

Not allen type, standard hex. bolt head.
Tried a cranked spanner but mine wasn't deep enough - that may be the direction to go in if they are available.

is there anything on "Scarlets" site http://www.sfforever.co.uk ? That usually covers most things or Deiters(www.mgf.de or something - sorry!)
Tony

Think I have resolved it - smallest socket I can find and then attach Mole grips !
John Mac

Try a 1/4 drive socket.
