MG MGF Technical - Wing mirror problem

Hi! My mgf had a a slight accident with a neglegent
cyclist who was not looking where she was going, knocking my passenger door mirror off, managed to
re-instal it, but it is now wobbly! Is there any
way of tightening up said wing mirror or do I have
to order a new one and if so, from whom.

The electrics are ok and the mirror reflector is still
intact, just wobbly.

Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Does no one have a wing mirror problem, or had
one in the past. Help.

Mr. Pearson.
I'm sorry I can't offer advice. BUT i too have the same problem. Not due to accident - though i've only had the car a few weeks so maybe.
But i'll join in the hunt for SOMEONE who might have had the same problem!
HELP !

Mr. Pearson.
Can you post your e-mail address. I've just looked on my Workshop Manual and found the page on wing mirror removal and adjustment. (both models)
I can e-mail it to you - it's in PDF format.
Simonjonknight@mac.com if that's safer for you

Last time I went wing mirror jousting, my mirror backing was smashed to bits and I had to replace the whole assembly. Not ever had a problem with a 'wobbly' mirror - sorry.

Popped the bungs off the inside today and tightened the screws. Kinda did something, but still drivers side is a bit, erm... loose. Call me superstitious, i hate removing mirror glass. But i assume thats the only way into the internals?
S J Knight

No, it is possible to unclip the backing. However, doing this without damaging paint and plastic is somewhat tricky, as those who've painted their own door mirrors will testify.
Rob Bell

Now Rob,
Is that assuming you've painted the black forward facing part of the mirror. Mines matt black plastic. But you're saying it should just come away from the silver side?
S J Knight

Yes, it should Simon; it is held in place by a number of plastic clips.
Rob Bell

oh, those plastic clips mentioned everywhere in the workshop manual! Love 'em 'til they break!
I'll try on Tuesday. Weathers crappy today. Washed the car for the natter tomorrow and got soaked!
