MG TD TF 1500 - $14,000 TD sold on eBay
| Am I out of touch, or does this seem like a LOT of money for a cosmetically but not otherwise terribly well-restored, non-running TD? I agree that a lot of money might have been spent on it (imagine how much that dash alone cost!), but with a reproduction Guarantee plate, missing engine tag, and who knows what else wrong, it seems like a lot to me. | Maybe. The pictures are not very good; they don't even show the interior, other than that dash, which I don't find attractive. It's hard to judge. It's possible that it's better than it looks; the new owner may have inspected it in person and discovered that. Also, the problem preventing it from running might have been trivial; the buyer may have discovered that on inspection. |

I suspect it is this one. Fits the description. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-MG-T-Series-/191676297188?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ca0cc2fe4&item=191676297188&nma=true&si=i7ZfHKUXMGXmzBvyD02sztkM0VA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Mike TF-8257

Thank you, Mike; I forgot to add the eBay listing. Yes, that's the car of which I wrote. It still surprises me. Tom Lange

I've got to agree with Mr. Maas above. I suspect someone personally inspected the car knowing something about TD's and decided this was a very good deal. The photos don't really say much but an inspection may have confirmed what was really done for the $30K. A good driver is well worth $14K. Roy

If the restauration cost is documented and spent for the right things, it's certainly worth the money, I would think. You guys in the US are a bit spoilt by a good supply of these cars, esp. All these abandoned barn finds. In Europe you will hardly find one below 20k$ Rgds Mike

Well ...the good news is "I have not attempted to turn the key". Wise decision on a car sitting since 2004! Maybe the buyer was smart enough to pull the plugs and put some oil down the cylinder walls to avoid snapping the rings! (OBTW: the dash makes it look like a kit car ...don't care for it at all.)

14K, in my estimation, a fair price for what I see. I wish my TF was half as nice when I got it and I tore it down to the last nut and bolt! PJ

That's a tough call. It looks fairly good overall. Like all of us, they have put a lot more money into it than they will ever get back out.

Can't tell much from the pictures. It could have been a good deal. 14k for a solid driver is a good deal. That dash is awful. I hope that dash is not an example of the quality of work for 30k. -David
