MG TD TF 1500 - 2 Bow hood

Just in the middle of fitting a new hood (top) on a friends TD.
On a TF the steel frame sits level with the windscreen edge allowing the sidescreen to fit right up to the frame.
On this 2 bow frame it is proud by about 5/16" which is unsightly and not a good seal, ie the wood does not protrude as much as the TF. Thinking this one had been butchered I checked another TD and found the same. Is this the way they left the factory?

Just finished fitting the hood and side screens on the 2 bow TDC. Not happy about the door screens, the hood frame is 40.75" wide which puts the top edge of the screens away from the windscreen edge. they tuck in but do not look nice. The TF hood frame is 39.25 wide but the pegs on the windscreen on both are the same width which gives an overhang on the TD 2 bow. I have checked other cars 2 and 3 bow and found the same difference.
Any ideas why?

Here is how mine fits. Now admittingly I must confess my top material is custom made but the frame and wood are original.

Can you share a picture that shows your issue?

I am away from the car at the moment, your photo shows exactly what I mean. On the 3 bow the hood inner flap rests against the hood frame level with the windscreen frame ( not the windscreen side support),
On the 2 bow the hood frame is wider than the wind screen forcing the front top edge of the side screen out.
The top corner bracket (hood peg) for the TD & TF is the same part number but the 2 bow hood frame is wider.
I checked other 2&3 bow cars and found the differences in all of them.
Not a problem but the 3 bow looks neater with the hood up as the side screen tucks right in.
I will post photos when I get back to the car next week.

The three bow hood frame is about 39.5 " wide so is level with the windscreen side piece letting the side screen fit snug to it and the clamp socket is closer to the edge. see photo 1.

the two bow hood frame is just under 41" wide so is wider than the windscreen side piece this holds the side screens off allowing a gap. see photo 2

Both the 2 and 3 bow wind screen hood fastening pins are the same distance apart

Not my car and the owner (fellow club member) is happy with it as it is

Maybe one of the subtle improvements in the 3 bow top.

As you noted the pegs are the same width as the windshield is pretty much the same except the motor mounting point and mechanism.
