I've got a 4.875 if you can't find a 4.55 - they're both uncommon. Tom Lange MGT Repair

4.875 was standard fare in the TF Tom.

I'd say there are a bunch of us with 4.875's. I have one that I wouldn't mind getting rid of. Alex

I do know they came in Mark II TDs and TFs, but it always seems that when I am looking for something, there aren't any out there. I haven't seen a 4.875 sell on eBay for a while - plenty of 5.125s, though. Tom Lange MGT Repair

The 4.55 is the standard ratio for ZA & ZB's. Butch

Len, I used a whole 4.55 MGA rear end - the main reason being I wanted something strong enough to take the supercharged torque on the halfshafts. We're about 9/16" wider on each side, but the wheels still sit inside the fenders. Mechanically speaking it's a good swap and enhances the mechanical integrity of the car.

I know you said 4.55 ratio Len but when I tried Moss a couple of years ago they were out of stock & not able to tell me if/when they were getting any in so I got an MGA 4.3 crown wheel & pinion from England, no problems at all. Much cheaper than Moss's listed price. Hoping 1st gear will now take me more than 3 yards & your cam will more than make up for what I've lost in acceleration. And you've got to love the highway cruising! Cheers Peter TD 5801

I have a pumpkin with the required ratio of 4.55 which I can strip and send the crown wheel pinion accross to you, I imagine that the cost of the airmail postage is about $75.00 and say maybe $300.00 for the parts, please advise off site at kubu@telkomsa.net rgds Trevor Burnett (South Africa)
