MG TD TF 1500 - 51TD licence plate bulb holder

Whenever you start work on one project, others crowd in. While removing the gas tank, I opened up the license plate assembly, and discovered that the wires had been taped shut and there was no bulb holder in the assembly. Does someone have a picture showing the interior with an actual bulb holder so I can see what I am missing? I have also read through the threads and emailed a couple of people who a long time ago might have had such a part... does anyone have this piece and is willing to part with it?
Thanks, a picture of my assembly is below.

They are cheap and were used on many cars-e.g. Morris Minor

There are a few on Ebay right now new and CHEAP.

I can find the entire unit (glass, chrome cover, bracket and parts) on ebay, for $50 and up. Not terribly expensive, but all I need is the piece that holds the bulb itself, which is missing from my steel stamped bracket. I imagine I could fabricate but I don't know what it looks like :)

Here's the backing plate but it cheaper to buy a whole new unit.

Yup, found the source that Gerard cites - Buy it Now at NOS Locators is $ 22.99 with a little over $ 4 for shipping.

That's new from a vendor with over 30,000 sales and a 100% feedback. Don't know that you'll do better.

Gerard, I must be blind but I cannot find one. I can find NOS lamps for $50 and up complete, less for individual parts like glass etc. I finally found the item you mentioned but it's a repro. Mine's an original in good shape overall (glass cleaned up beautifully with one small chip).
I think I'll just fab a bracket and mount it in it...
The repros are cheaper but the real NOS stuff starts at $50 if we're lucky...

Geoffrey - the link I posted above is not an auction - it is a Buy it Now.
Since you don't appear to want a repro, have you considered getting the repro and taking out the part that you need to use in your original?

BobbyG, I bought one just for that reason today :)

For mine, I just got a generic socket, soldered it to an "L" bracket made from some brass shim stock, and used a no. 1003 bulb. The bracket is attached with small screws. I think it's much better than those tiny original lamps with their poorly designed contacts.

Nice job S Maas. I was thinking of doing the same but then I got a rebate from ebay and was able to buy a NOS (repro) unit for $19 incl shipping. I'll just swap out the metal bracket and keep my glass if their glass is inferior in any way. And I'll put in a brighter LED light anyway :)

And I believe they came with single bulb sockets or double bulb sockets.
