MG TD TF 1500 - Aerolite Piston

One of my new Aerolite MG TD .040" pistons was dropped and the skirt was damaged. Seems no one commercially has a single piston replacement for sale.

I hate to throw the 3 remaining away and buy a new set, so I thought I'd ask if anyone here might have a split set, or good used one I could purchase. Again I'd like to match the other good ones and need a single Aerolite piston .040 over.

Richard. Can you post a picture? I have three 40 over pistons that have about 8,000 on them. but don't know the brand. They are the survivors of a rod bolt letting go. They look pretty good. Drop me a note at bruce dot cunha at charter dot net and I can send some pictures.

Rich, I also got a set of new Aerolite MG TD .040" pistons from Moss. I have three used ones but don't know the mileage on them. Judging from the other internal components they are not very old. They seem in good shape to me but I am not am expert. I have removed virtually all the carbon build up. If you can't use one from Bruce, let me know.

Richard,
I had to call Moss anyway, so I asked if they had an odd .040 1250 piston on the shelf- nope, only full sets that can't be split. He did check, though!
Also have been scouring the internet for TF 1500 STD 72mm pistons and haven't spotted yours anywhere yet.
Keep us posted, and give us a picture, the AE/ Aerolite pistons show up in different configurations. Is yours the solid piston with a split skirt, or the one with notches on both skirts plus one split side? 4 rings grooves?

Ones I have don't appear to be Aerolite's. They do not have the cutouts on the side.

Success using this forum again, Mort Resnicoff had a used one that appears good enough to put back in service. From the picture he sent me, it looks identical in design to the damaged one I needed to replace. I will measure it carefully to compare with my others and install my new rings. This makes me very happy to salvage a broken set.

I attached an image of my broken one.

Have you consulted a "speed" shop.
In past times they would "Expand" older pistons to fit slightly oversized bores.
I suspect that the same equipment could correct your deformation.
