MG TD TF 1500 - Another MG Vendor? heard from
I am remaking the wooden parts of the TD seats. $35 for Baltic Birch is better than $230. I am making only the flat part of the bottoms. Some time ago there was a thread listing MG-T vendors. Here is a vendor sticker that was on one of the triangular prism shaped parts that I am reusing. Car # GD/12789 EX/NA I would guess polish? Jim B. ![]() |

Hey Jim, Ahlstrom is a Finnish company and a big one at that.Have a look at http://www.ahlstrom.com/en/Contact-us/. I spent a career in the pulp & paper industry and ran Nokia Canada long before Nokia started making cell phones. (That's an interesting story in itself). Spent a lot of time in Finland. I used to coordinate various projects with Ahlstrom. My guess is that the wood from which your label came, was an Ahlstron product. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

So I finished the bottoms and primed them. I removed the old covers from the back and vacuumed out the mouse turds and stray Horse hair and there tucked in the springs was a pink slip. Jim B. ![]() |

I carefully unwrapped it and it appears to be some sort of shipping/inventory paper, placed there 62 years ago by "Springcot Ltd.". In the name box it say THRUPP9 MABL=Rl PART No H QUANTITY 1(?)0(?} COU(?) WEIGHT S/C H/C C Jim B. ![]() |

Interesting ! Springcot probably the manufacturer of the seat springs, Thrupp & Maberley though were coachbuilders (like Hooper, VandenPlas etc). AFAIK they had nothing to do with the Nuffield Organisation, however they did supply bodies for the Rootes group. Nick (TD3232) |

The Springcot tag is very interesting. This company did not even make Grace's Guide so they were pretty small I suspect. Not to be confused with the current Springcot which is a energy company in Nigeria. There were a couple of patents by them in 1947 and again in 1956. Jim B.: Was that found inside your seat bottoms? |

>Jim B.: Was that found inside your seat bottoms? No that was in the seat back. The bottoms are foam. Jim B. |

The Ahlstrom tag was on the seat bottoms. Jim B. |

Sorry. I meant the Ahlstrom tag, but you answered my question none the less. |
