MG TD TF 1500 - Anti Roll Bar installation

I decided to fit an anti roll bar to my TF front suspension. I have a quick question. Are there specified torque values for the castellated nuts on the pivot bar where the bushings are fitted?

Merv. You should be able to find bolt torque specs online for comparable grades and sizes.

Thanks Bill. Yes, I have those but I was wondering if there were actual specs for the castellated nuts at each end of the pivot arm, with their large rubber bushings, behind the shouldered washers. I have used 45psi as a guide - with the car and wishbone arms level - as a staring point.

There's no real torque spec for these, being castle nuts they'll all be different to get the pin holes lined up anyway---The go is to tighten them to roughly 40/45ft/lb and then on to align the first available pin hole---don't go backwards to a hole, always tighter.
By the way, if you're replacing the bushes, the later MGB-V8 style bushes are a nice upgrade---direct fit, but you'll need to clean the pin up nicely so the inner metal sleeve of the bush is a neat sliding fit and a light smear of grease on the pin only, so they don't rust together

Thanks Willy. Yes I am using the MGB V8 bushings and cleaned the pivot arm shafts and added a little nonslip. I suspect that the 40/45ft/lb I have then is about right to fit the pins.

Thanks Bud. Very helpful. Mine is very like John Progress. I am still not sure if the small clamps on the bar go inside or outside on the 'bar. I see both versions. 😁
