MG TD TF 1500 - Are these really necessary?

This is from a car currently on ebay - 331279862018

What's the point of these ignition wire harnesses?

Christopher Couper

Guess they let you use real long wires to ensure maximum radio interference. Don't know much about electricity so that's just a WAG. Jud

They look nice...and since they're metal on metal wouldn't they ground out some of the noise?

I have an old set hanging on the wall?

They are a period accessory. Very popular with the flathead V8 crowd. Also came stock on many early cars. Not much point on an XPAG since all the wires are on one side, and right next to the distributor.

... hmmmm ... wonder what that jar of apple jelly is doing between the battery and the valve cover.

Thanks.

Wonder if that was a person that did not know that some sets of wires need to be cut down. As for the jar? I remember back in the 1970's that everyone was touting water injection systems. From the fluid color. I would say this is an oiler system. Marvel Mystery oil?
Bruce Cunha

Not for me thanks, Sandy. My wall of 'Slowness' is the wrong place!

Let Tom have it.

He's also got a vacuum gauge where the horn push should be, so he may have had a blower at one time.

I wasn't going to say anything, but that silver car reminds me of a Pimpmobile - every option you could get and then some, but not done with particularly good style in mind. "The first year wire wheels were an option." Right.

Anyone else feel that way? I could go into more detail...

Is that the certified 3000 mile TD with factory wire wheels on it? Grin. PJ

Chromed horns? This guy suffers from LGS Lady Gaga Syndrome... There's no such thing as too much...

Geoffrey M Baker

Things like this is what ticks me off at shows where popular votes are present. This car would probably beat out all the correct cars because of all the pretties on the car. The unknowing love all the chrome and all the glitter and will vote for that. PJ

Man, you guys are brutal. Remind me to never post photos of my car here!

I wonder which chrome horn cap won the duel. Did they use sabres or pistols.

All he needs is a bit of red velvet and it would look like a bad woman's bedroom.

Ordered Bumble-Bee plug wire 4 times (one kit for each plug) and didn't own a wire cutter? Had read somewhere plug wires can short out on tach drive?
