MG TD TF 1500 - Ball Joint Nut
Need advice on how to get the ball joint nut tight. I have tapped the ball joint into the steering arm, but the shaft on the ball joint still spins when I go to put the nut on. How do others fix this?

Try putting a side load on it.

Hi Bruce, Put a wisker of grinding paste on the shaft and lap it into the tapered hole. Go easy so it dosen't seize and wash all the paste away carefully. Jan T

Is it tapered? Perhaps the taper is pulling through too far? If so, put a washer on before the nut but make sure the start of the taper can pull through the hole in the washer. I might be way off beam as my background is TCs. Cheers, Bob

Bruce, when I did mine, I was told to use an impact wrench to get it to spin on fast. worked for me.

Bruce clear any bodged threads. A few short bursts with an impact gun should snug it fine.
