MG TD TF 1500 - Barrier for cars at shows?

How can I protect a special car on display very near pedestrian traffic entering hotel at GOF-South, March 2018? (cheap!) We will have a different car each day. See photos of space below.

Preliminary thoughts:
> Low free standing soft plastic stanchions with caution tape between. Far enough away to not hit the car if they turn over.
> Traffic cones with caution tape between. Simple.
> Pad under each wheel with stanchion attached with caution tape between. Not sure how to build.

Thanks for your suggestions and experiences.

I dunno... but this could be fun...

This is what I use at car shows. This is my TR, it shows the stands better than the picture with my TD. I made these my self, not a lot of work if you have a wood lathe. I put a round 1/4" steel base on the bottoms for extra weight.

Usually most hotels will have stanchions and velvet ropes. Have you asked the host hotel?
Lew Palmer

Hi:
The best stanchions I have seen were made of steel rod with a plate on one end and an eye on the other for a rope to go through. The plates fit under the car's tires with the rods pointing up at 45 degrees to the floor and pointing out at 45 degrees to the corners of the car. The chap used thin white nylon rope so that it was not too obstructive in photographs. They were very secure - could not be accidently knocked over nor easily stolen.

Thanks, Chris. LaVerne had posted the photo on FB earlier this week and I thought it was hilarious.

LaVerne, was this something you were involved in, or saw at a show?
Kevin McLemore

It was a display put up by a British restoration shop at the annual British car show near Denver every year.

This was in 2007. I haven't seen that display in the ones I have been back too although I heard they were going to bring it back this year but I didn't get there.

Lonnie. I like this one. I could find a number of long box end wrenches at our local flea market if you went this way.

Don;t feel the base would have to be this fancy.

I love the car in the box. Hope he won for that. Wish I had thought of that.
