MG TD TF 1500 - Battery Disconnect Question
Those of you with positive earth and a battery disconnect, which terminal would be the best to disconnect or does it matter? thanks Bill TD24570 |

well i have the simple one that is right on the battery terminal and i have it on the ground side. (+) |

The ground side is preferable because that's the side that typically is disconnected first. For one thing, have you ever had your wrench slip and touch the tub at the same time when undoing the supply side first? Sparks! Can't happen when doing the ground first. However, I could only find a negative post switch, so even though I have a positive ground car, I accepted that limitation. That said, it does its job just fine. I just make sure I still remove the ground side before I wrench on the positive side. Warmly, Dave |

Put the Disconnect on the ground side. Less chance of arcing when you open and close the switch. |

IMHO, I would be careful with those inexpensive green ones that go right on the terminals,,, if you look closely you will find that there isn't much of a contact area,,, and they pit very easily,, I think it is better to go with a regular heavy duty shut off switch.. SPW |
