MG TD TF 1500 - Beaulieu International Autojumble

In a few weeks time the Beaulieu International Autojumble will happen again.

As every year I will be there with TD-TFparts and it is the intention to bring the prototype TWINCAM cylinderhead for an XPAG engine.
I'll be on the yellow field Y003,Y004,Y005 under the big oaktree

If you need anything please let me know in advance; I can't bring everything.

For those of us who can't attend, how about posting a pic of your twin cam head? I know I'd like to see it and learn more about it.

Hello,
There was a thread with pics on this item in april under "XPAG Twincam at last".
If you want to know more, please email me on

I've looked through the threads and the pictures and I know I'm not too bright, but can someone please explain to me the advantages of a twin cam head for an XPAG engine?
Geoffrey M Baker

Hello Geoffrey,

As you prabably know, XPAG engines are fitted in MG TB, TC, TD and TF.
Also in MG Y and Wolseley 4/44 in a (slightly) modified form)
In total more than 100.000 of these engines were produced.

During the fifties a lot of circuitracing was done with these cars, and consequently people tried to get more power.
The MG factory even made a competitionmodel (MG TDC) and in the literature on T-types you will also find modifications to increase the power, even to the level of a supercharger being fitted and increasing the power from 56 to almost 90 BHP.

In the fifties they also tried to fit a twincam cylinderhead to the same purpose.

As you know there is still some classic car racing going on with these T-types, both in the USA as well as in England and in Europe.
So it may be interesting to try to built an XPAG engine with a twincam head.

Hope this answers your question.

ps For the same reason as above, I am also building an XPAGengine with a crossflow cylinderhead.

It was my pleasure

Does this mean that there are two sets of valves for each cylinder? That would make sense, increase intake and exhaust.
