MG TD TF 1500 - Best exhaust gasket?
Are there alternatives to the standard Moss exhaust/intake gasket? Anybody recommend any particular product? |

They're usually a heavy duty gasket, sheet steel reinforced inside, suitable for high temps. Anything less would have a hard time standing up to the exhaust heat. I got about a halfdozen off of ebay for a good price. You could cut a gasket out of copper sheet, but use lots of sealer on the intake to offset the risk of a vacuum leak. |

I remove the adapter and use an MGA gasket between header pipe and manifold. Works a charm and lasts better than the original type. Make sure the soft side faces up. |

geoffrey, i have a moss gasket in my car for 10+ years, no issues..several thousand miles. i was not aware there is a problem with the gasket provided by moss, but if so..olson gaskets would be worth a try. regards, tom http://www.olsonsgaskets.com/ |

You can also go to NAPA and get a triangular gasket; take your old one in for size comparison. Tom Lange |

tm, I don't know of any problem with the moss gasket. I was asking because people there are other suppliers out there, often with really good products - example, the valve cover gasket provided by Tom Lange vs the standard cork Moss valve cover gasket. I'm not well enough acquainted with everything out there to know which is good and which is better... I'll probably order the Moss gasket tomorrow. |

Don't forget, you can order that Moss gasket via Little British Car Co. for a bit of a savings. |

JRN Simplest thing is I can probably buy it from my Tucson supplier for the same cost as Moss, but no postage. Depends if they have it in stock. |
