| My (personal) recommendation is that you use Deves rings. I have had problems with the usual supplier's rings not seating. Tell us about your engine. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

| How many miles do you have on it now Colin? |

I'm also curious if you saw these stampings in the head gasket

And

| That last stamp would be the MOWOG stamp upside-down in case anyone cant read it. Matthew. |

| That is correct. Made some comparrisons with it and the gasket that Moss supplies tonight. The Moss version on a .060 over bore

And what I believe is an NOS MOWOG gasket

| Not much meat between 2 and 3, however the MOWOG is a shocker, no wonder they blow. Graeme |

| Of interest to me was the fact that the Moss gasket would be unusable as it doesn't clear the bore. |

| With car apart and garage in disarray I cannot find the head gasket right now. Engine is orig installation and has never been out of the car. 1954 TF 1250 cc. HDC 46/6688 XPAG/TF/35351 44,400 miles. Not driven too hard. It had 17,000 when we bought car 10 yrs ago. I drove this car for a weekend in 1957. I have only taken no.2 piston out so far. Rod journal looks really good and clean as do the bearings. Eng. has always been 70 psi on start-up,50 psi running, @ temp. I am having new head gasket made. MM gaskets are too thin. Have not done bore measurements yet. So , piston are TBD. I have a set of Std. A&E 4 ring, NOS from 1968. |

| Moss head gasket obtained last month on a +.040 engine. I'd prefer a Payen, but this looks find as far as clearing the combustion chamber. I would like a bit more meat between the cylinders too.

| I've used Moss-supplied gaskets for many years and a lot of hard miles. My engine is 30 over, 9.1:1 and never had one fail. If you're going bigger bore, you can always order a custom gasket. But I agree try to get some meat between those bores! |
