MG TD TF 1500 - California casualties?

I saw on our National news the other day, of a chap in California who lost 6 Lambos and 3 Ferraris in the dreadful wildfires that Californians are experiencing. They had virtually melted into the ground - what a terrible loss.

Brings to mind a chap in the Ottawa MG Club who recently lost a Mini, an MGB, MGA and the TD left to him by his father, also in a bad fire.

Does anyone know losses of any T-Series in the California fires?

That is a monumental loss. But I'm sure you agree that it pales in comparison to the loss of a single life.

I would hope everyone here has insurance for their classics. I know I do!

I haven't heard of any M.G. losses down here in the South, but the last fires up North a few months ago claimed a number of cars including one guy I know who lost his TA as well as an HRG, Alfa, Jag and others. I have what's left of the engine, which isn't much. Aluminum parts ran down the driveway as liquid.

I know of a TC and TD lost in the Redding area fire earlier this summer. An XK 120 and a TD in the Santa Rosa Fire.

I have family members who live in Paradise which was leveled in the early hours of the Camp Fire now burning in Northern Ca. All whom are among the 900 souls still missing

Tough luck, Bill. Cars seem so insignificant when human life is threatened.

Lets all hope for happy ending.

I grew up in southern California, in the foot hills around the Mojave Desert and their fires - absolutely devastating! My wife and I high tailed up to Western Washington State and never looked back.

I do feel sorry for the people down there, including my wife's cousin and her husband - they lost their home Ventura about 2 years ago and are still trying to jump through all the hoops trying to rebuild their home.

We to feel for the people in California who have lost so much down there.

Its not a phenomenon we know very much about here, moorland fires are more common in dry summers like this one, unwelcome but less devastating. When my wife and I visited California a couple of years back, we thought that much of it was such a wonderful place to live (no wonder the film stars live there), but now we know the disadvantages. The fires and destruction have been shown on UK TV night after night. So sorry for the lives lost and homes razed, our best wishes go with all those who have suffered.

Fires happen everywhere in the Western USA, but get far more attention when they are near populated areas like these current ones. Ordinarily they aren't nearly so destructive as the fires this past month. The conditions right now just happen to be a worst possible scenario - lots of growth, drought conditions, low humidity and high winds. These are not typical fires, but with climate change happening they will likely continue to get worse, just as other areas of the country (and the world) are beginning to see more severe weather events.

At least we don't get hurricanes, tornados, and floods! Generally speaking the weather here is incredible. That's what draws most people here. Top down driving weather 350 days per year. A lot of people are migrating North as the cost of living goes up, so at least we may get rid of the crowds eventually. ;)
