MG TD TF 1500 - Camera mounting Location

I have been experimenting with various camera mounting locations and views.

As you can see from the photo I have mounted it on an arm attached to the seat back and on the front windshield.

I also tried narrow and wide angle views.

This is a link to a YouTube Video that the shots came from.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Mort,

I vote for window wide.

Window wide gets my vote too. What sort of arm have you as although I've bought the camera have yet to fit it.

I like them all for variety! You could get fancy with an editor app and add a small window for airspeed and heading like the pilot video guys do (or just the tach and speedo, ha ha).

Just nice to see your beautiful countryside going by in any case! I'm inspired!

Just to be different I like rear mount narrow view. Lets me pretend I am in the car. But it could get old after a while I supposed and does not give you as much of a view.

So it really depends on what you want to achieve.

Here are some different perspectives I have done.

First one is before I had a smart phone or go pro.

My Cannon camera mounted to a tripod and bungied to the spare tire. Lots of rattling from the camera strap I think.

This from the drivers seat with a smart phone....which I don't recommend but I used to do a lot of.

Go pro now mounted to the rear deck of the MGB

Another location with the go pro...of note is if it's in the wind stream the sound sucks..

Gopro mounted in front of the wind screen with some cell phone rear view thrown in as well.

Just gives you an ideas of what the view is.

That’s the big gripe I have with video in our roadsters. Wind noise! I’d rather hear my XPAG growling through the countryside instead of overwhelming white noise. I don’t have a go pro and tripod. To get the view from the boot. And my suction cup on the windshield creates a bunch of unnecessary bounce.

I don't have one of these cameras so I'm just curious. Do any of these cameras have a port for an external microphone? If so and if plugging in an external mic shut off the internal mic, one could record that beautiful roar instead of wind.

I used Velcro to hold camera in place and mounted my DVR on the front side of the mirror.
This gives an over the nose look as I drive.
This also cuts wind noise and you can hear the engine and gears( even when I grind a couple)
Dash DVR can be had for as little as $30.00. Just need to supply the correct voltage from the dash power ports.

All are nice but I prefer the rear mount narrow view because the seeing the instruments gives prospective to speed and engine conditions.
