MG TD TF 1500 - Can engine and transmission be install as a unit?
Trying to get my engine back in the car. (GOF is in 4 days). Spent 4 hours last night and could not get the first motion shaft in the pilot. I am going to pull the transmission out and mate them on the floor to see whats going on. Checked the pilot bushing ID - twice, reset the fiber clutch plate twice. So once I do get it together, is there enough room to go back in mated? I seem to remember a thread, but cannot locate it. I have set the transmission in with the engine in place, so I think I might go that route, by setting the engine in, then installing the transmission from the top. Blair |

I always pull and install the engines back in with the transmission attached. Pull the gearshift lever out first. PJ |

U can do that. I have done it before in a TD. |

Thanks Paul, I just needed to know that geometrically it can be done. It's in now... Looks like we just might make the GOF. Blair ![]() |
