MG TD TF 1500 - Car show display board

So I am heading in to my 4th year of showing my car at various venues. Some are higher end shows and others are just local cruise in's. I have been thinking about putting together some sort of board telling the history of my car and specs to display next to the car. I am not really sure where to start. I would like to make it myself but at the same time have it appear professional. I would be interested to see what some of you have done and listen to any suggestions you all might have.

Thanks,

Rich

Not anywhere near professional..just something a made up with some scrap walnut and oak. More often than not I just put the picture book on the luggage rack. And now I may just throw it on the floorboard just in case some one wants to see what went into it.

Like I said..not pro

Not pro? Like your center console? Just in case you decide to throw it away, I want to be first in line! It's beautiful! PJ

If you were a pro would it be made of rubies? Very nice and professional looking.

I found a guy in Pennsylvania that makes show boards. They look nice if you are willing to pay up. On EBay. 151921751637

Look back at the GOF photo displays in past TSOs. You'll find some tremendous displays with members cars. Bud

A moderate sized sign explaining the car with a few before/during shots is all the casual car show browser will have time/interest for. Save the album with a hundred pictures for those few who show genuine interest in a particular aspect and need to see and hear all about it.

Like having to sit still while being shown pictures of your neighbor's grand children..... a little goes a long long way, so don't over do it/spend too much money. One 8x10 'before' photo under the wiper is usually enough to cull out those who would like the hear about your work.

I've been into old cars since 1972 and hot rods for the past 10 years. I can count on one hand the number of signs I've actually read. I prefer to talk to the owner.

I agree with you. A little does go along way. I think the ebay guy I mentioned above is the perfect solution. Basic info and very professional.

I took a look at that E-Bay board, WOW, that’s a lot of money ! I think an important thing for a History Board for a car would be to have the ability to make changes as the years go by without having to destroy the board.
For instance, you spend the $180, and next year you add a 5 speed, or change the rear end, and then you take a long trip that you want on add to the cars history. How do you do it?
I chose an 11 x 17 word doc because it is easy to change and make additions on my PC and then print on a copier. It's mounted it on a piece of foam board, and I covered it with a "Frost King" plastic storm window kit from Lowes. This makes it easy to recover if additions are made to the word doc as the years and mileage pass by. The size makes it easy to carry in the boot.

So I went for broke and had a board professionally done. Took awhile to get here but i am pleased with the result!

Above was the proof, below the real deal with garage glare.
