MG TD TF 1500 - Caster/Camber adjustment

About every 20,000 miles, my tires are showing excessive wear on the inside, which suggests some positive camber. I will almost certainly have to replace them next summer.

Any suggestions on how to correct this anomaly?

Gord, that can also be caused by toe-out. I discovered that after driving Lazarus to Georgia in 2016 when we moved down here. About 1,000 miles of highway driving was enough to do it. Bud

Hello Gord Clark. T get more miles out of your tires you can change place from front to rear, but
pay attention to the direction of the rotation. As you know the tires are ment to roll in one directin.

I tend to agree with Bud, toe adjustment has way more effect on tyre wear than camber--Camber has to be a long way off square to create a tyre wear issue

I am no expert, but as I understand it both camber and castor can be adjusted by shimming at the top of the shock absorber. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to tell us more. Lionel TD 3490

Just for clarity, wear on the inside would be negative camber. This is not normally adjustable without changing the lower arms, so assuming everything is as it should be, you may have damage somewhere. If the wear is the same on both tires then I would look elsewhere first, like toe settings.

Steve:- Certainly no accident. I am the original and only owner of the car. I can assure you, that I've never had so much as even a minor bump.

But I must attend to this problem. B&G used to have an adjustable yoke (attached to the shock arm), but I'm not able to find it now.

No crisis for now. Taking the car off the road in a few days (winter).

Fronts wear on the inside, backs evenly. To get the most mileage, if they are not white sidewall on one side, remount them backwards, then rerun on front and rotate with rears...

When your wife insists on wide white sidewalls, you don't have that option.

I think we get 10k miles per set of 4 Cokers. We're on set 3 or 4 now.

First step would be to get it onto a wheel aligner and measure it -
The specs in the w/s book are-
0 plus or minus 1deg. Camber and 0 toe.
Which is a bit weird compared to an MGB with almost identical suspension which has
1 deg + camber and 1/16-3/32 toe in

I'm thinking it's a toe issue, it'd be unusual if it had something bent for both sides to wear the same
Normally a rear wheel drive car needs a tiddle toe in.

Other than just normal wear, so far I have zero added problems. But my toe in is set 1/8th inch in at the forward rim edge of both wheels. Before adding the slight toe in the steering was a little more sensitive. PJ
