MG TD TF 1500 - Chassis Outrigger
Hi, A bit back I asked if anybody knew of a chassis parts supplier in the UK, the answer was no and best to fabricate rear spring front bracket.. That is now done, see photo. The card sample was made to check the fit before fabrication. The heads of the retaining bolt were cut off and the welds to chassis ground away and the rusty outrigger removed. At this point it was noticed that the card one was probably stronger than the original!!!. After 61 years 3 of the bolts unscrewed only 1 had to be drilled out The new one is now fitted and the car back on the road.It may be of interest that the outrigger on the TD,TF and YA/YB are the same. ![]() |

Hi, I can't take credit for the fabrication,I only did the grunt work. The bracket was made by the owner John Sanderson and Dave White of our local (North Wales) Octagon Car Club. We have occasional Master Classes where most members come along and pick up knowledge from each other. Ray |
