MG TD TF 1500 - Clutch Disc Size - TF1500
I have two clutch discs that have two very obvious wear surface sizes. The larger, 1-1/8" wide and the new Moss one that measures a hair less than 1". Should I try to locate one with the wider wear surface or should the Moss piece be OK? The old, larger one is over 40 years old...if that makes any difference. Thanks, Dan picture included ![]() |

Is there an opinion here to the above post? Thank you |

If they have the same depth I would use the larger one. Be careful, it certainly contains asbestos. -David |

I would like to use the old one but it is rather thin. I guestimate that the difference in surface area is somewhere around 8 to 9%. |

Dan, FWIW, I wondered the same thing when I recently replaced my old 8" TD disc, also about 40 years old, with a new Moss unit. I only have a few hundred miles of not-very-vigorous driving on the new disk, but so far it works perfectly. Joe |
