MG TD TF 1500 - Clutch judder Solved!

Well Twelve years of trying to solve a first gear clutch judder on take off, new clutch, new release bearing ,tightening the U bolts, adjusting the engine stay, new gear box mount rubbers etc. Today I replaced the clutch cable with clutch rod because it was starting to bind....BINGO NO JUDDER !!!
Flat out gone...smooth as silk
Go figure, not sure why as there was nothing wrong but a slight binding on the cable ,which was only a recent development
Will the wonders of MG's never cease?
...I, am a happy Guy!

Well done. Now if I could just figure out why my TD judders when releasing the clutch while backing up a hill. Never does it going forward. It's done it for 40+ years, I live with it.
John Quilter (TD8986)

I think everyone has the judder in backwards gear. My suspicion is that the engine front stabilizer reacts differently when being pulled vs pushed, but ther may be other explanations.
Mike Fritsch

Here Here - I also had the gudder in 1st and reverse - changed front engine stabiliser and the judder vanished in 1st but remained in reverse.

Ross, check the tightness of the U bolts on the rear end?

Maybe the cable was elastic. The rod is not.
