MG TD TF 1500 - Coil spring locator plates

Hi,
I have my front suspension completely dismantled for a rebuild. According to the workshop manual there should be a coil spring retaining plate on each outer end of the cross member, held in place by a single bolt. Mine does not have these! Could somebody please tell me:
-Do all TDs have them?
-Will MGB ones fit? (I have seen these for sale)
-How do they bolt in place? Do they bolt to the underside of the plate that the damper bolts to?

A photo of one in situ would be really useful.

Cheers

Pretty sure they all have them
As you say , held on by a single bolt, springwasher and nut
The bolt is a little countersunk headed bolt only about 1/4" dia and fits in from the top into a tapered/countersunk hole under the shockabsorber and ends up flush with that shocky mounting plate, with the washer and nut underneath
You have to make sure the two larger holes in the plate line up with the outer shockabsorber bolt holes as the ends of these two bolts protrude through the plate when the shocker is bolted up
I'd imagine an MGB plate would fit ok but thinking back the MGB plate is a cup shape, my MGY has flat plates ??? but it's a bitsa anyway----not sure of the shape of a TD plate

The MGB cup has a slightly larger diameter and will not fit inside stock TD/TF springs.

The cup is not in place here but you can see the two depressions for the two tapered machine screws in the area.

The second image shows the cups yet to be stripped and painted. The one on the left shows wat the screws look like and the position of the cup would be when installed.

Hmm...guess the cups on this one did not get repainted.

Be careful and use the correct link shock mount bolts I used bolts that were too long and cranked them through the spring plate. George

Many thanks all for these really helpful responses. At least I know what I need to do now!

Sorry if I confused things a bit there using my MGY as a reference
The MGY front shockers are different having the two outer mounting bolts only 50mm apart and the bolts actually pass through the cup/plate, which when the shocker bolts are out, the cup/plate is held in place by a single bolt---I thought a TD would be the same/similar but apparently not
Again, sorry for any confusion this may have caused

Thanks Willy - clarification much appreciated.
