MG TD TF 1500 - Contacted Moss (Cowl Rubber)

Will it do any good, who knows, but I can be persistent. Explained the cowl rubber situation where theirs has the V instead of L shape where the overlay goes on top of the cowl. I'm sure it's been mentioned before but, I just opened my complete TF rubber kit and found the cowl rubber has the V shaped cut. Hopefully they can get someone to work on this. Extruded piece of rubber, how hard is it to change the die and extrude it in the proper shape. Actually it's not even rubber. PJ

Its worth a try. They have someone in charge of quality. Email me and I can provide the name. If you have an original sample they really like that sort of stuff.

Paul,
You can convert the V shape to an L with a little care and a razor knife.

Chris, I wish I had an original sample to mail to you, but as it is, I don't. Email is on it's way. Thanks
Mort, I've been following your posts on this and I will probably take your lead and trim mine. Thank you for your interest. It would be nice though if Moss could grasp this situation and follow up on it to correct this issue for others restoring these cars. PJ

PJ there is a recent thread on this showing detailed profiles from 2 Oz suppliers & elsewhere. I have an original sample which is a perfect match for the rubber from the supplier I mentioned. Maybe you could cut & paste & forward that to Moss to show them what it should look like. Cheers

Peter, I just found out that Brown & Gammons appears to have the proper cowl rubber. In their photo, the rubber appears to have the 90 degree angle on the cowl overlay. Photo.

FWIW, Moss has been using the wrong profile for a loooong time. I imagine just about every TD restored in this country over the past thirty years has used it!

How do I know? I've got a TD rubber that was sent to a PO in the late 70's that is the V profile.

Most of the TD's I've seen have it installed incorrectly anyway-- usually just over the wood and not lipping over the cowl.

Is the rubber you are referring to the one in my picture. I bought this from Brown and Gammons last week.

Nice picture Jan.

Brown and Gammonds has got it right! I'll be placing an order with them real soon.
