MG TD TF 1500 - Costs to bild a brand new TD/TF
Most spare parts are available new from Brown and Gammons or Moss. Things they don't have turn up on eBay and other aucton sites. Has anyone costed building up a TF or TD from new and second hand spares? Jan T |

Infinitesimally cheaper and easier to start with a parts car... I just bought a complete parts TD for $2300, that sat outside for some years but with drivetrain intact. They're out there. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Once in the early 60's I went to a Ford dealer to buy a part for an car that probably was worth at most $2,000 brand new. I complained about the parts cost and asked how much the same car would be if I had bought it as parts. His reply was the car would probably be around $12,000. |

Chris, that sounds like the Mustang they had an article on many years ago. It was in one of the car magazines. All I remember is the cost to build it from new parts was astronomical! PJ |

Also something else to think about is most of the parts wouldn't fit to each other lol |

I've been running an Excel spread sheet on mine and started with a $500 rolling frame car with severe rust, no engine transmission or all items attached to the engine / transmission. So have been building it from the frame up. Based on my investment, I think one would easily hit $30k plus. That's doing everything myself. More then the market would bare for resale. When my wife is done driving it, hopefully my son will keep it on the road. |

If you think about it, just the cost of a new tub, which is available, is $6000 plus shipping! That's just one of a thousand parts. I'd say well over $100,000! Just guessing. PJ |
