MG TD TF 1500 - Daimler
When did Daimler start looking like a Jaguar? Did Jag take over the company in the 60s, or ?? Will Jag parts fit? PJ

A Jaguar Mk2 is very similar to the Daimler 250. The latter however has a Daimler 2.5 litre V8 engine rather than the Jaguar XK twin cam. Many regard the Daimler engine to be the better of the two. The Daimler has a slightly more luxurious interior but most other parts are the same. Jan T

Paul, Jaguar purchased Daimler in the 1960s. I believe that they badge engineered a Daimler version of the XJ-6

I had a 59 Jag 3.4 with the 3.4L six, sold it in mid 70's. It would later be called the Mk1. What a bullet proof engine that also sounded fantastic, and had plenty of power. The little puny Daimler 8 cyl, not so much of either. About the only way to tell a Daimler from a Jag was by the grill. Daimler bought the body/rolling chassis (less certain drive train components) from Jaguar. Doors, windows. etc interchangeable with its Jag brothers, or at least they were.

My father had a '68(?) Daimler Sovereign, which was the badge engineered Jaguar 420.
