If you think new is crazy priced, just wait until you get an estimate for chroming the originals and the screws. I think I paid $10 a screw.

I would suggest you just spray it with silver paint and clear so its uniform if your are looking to cut the cost.

DO NOT DISCARD the original trim no matter what. It took me years to get a set after I stupidly replaced mine with a repro back in the early 70's for just the reasons you are citing, cost.

Get in touch with Craig Seabrook at the Witworth Shop for the trim piece. He sells new, and sometimes has good condition used pieces. Very fair and knowledgable.. Your on your own for the "S" bracket.

I do have a complete original trim still mounted on the usable dash including the trim around the glove box and lid with the chrome hinges .If you need it drop me a email.

Hey Chris that screw tale is a bit "fishy". Last time you mentioned it it was $5 per screw! :) It's possible to straighten bent trim. Just takes time & some improvisation. The screws are hard to find.

I just had a batch of 200 new brass screws plated here in Sydney & the first quote was $88 per hundred polished. The one I went with was $77 for the 200 unpolished. They look great. The brass 2# screws were imported into Adelaide & then forwarded on to me here in Sydney. The delivery cost way more than the screws. When I picked them up from the chrome platers the guy complained about how long it took him to wire them up so I'm not sure if I can get that deal again. Cheers

Original trim is much better in my opinion. I was able to clean and polish my original trim.... looks great. Of course I tend not to "over-restore" my cars... I like a little of that..."I've been around a little" look. Oh yeah.... they call it "Patina".
