MG TD TF 1500 - David Shewood- Your Dash?

Going through the 2012 archives, I pulled this photo of Davids dash. David, where did you get the glove box doors? PJ

Paul S Jennings

Abingdon Spare show them In their catalog. I made my own.

There are some nice flush mount steel ones on ebay. Made by Scott A I think ...or maybe his dad.

MG LaVerne

Paul,
Got those off a fee-bay auction years ago. Actually have an old magazine advert from the 50's for them (somewhere). Paid way too much for them but they were very expensive when new (think the advert was for like $80/$120 range?). Think a couple of people on here made some much cheaper. It is nice to be able to lock stuff up.
OBTW:
I carry a lot of spares and "re-built" my boot storage larger, and installed stainless trays in the bottom of it. Put a lock on that one also. Can't even see it as the "strap" covers it. Downside (for concourse) is my crank does not fit on back of boot wall now, but I can put it inside locked storage when parked. Certainly is easier to store side curtains as well!

David, They look very nice!
LaVerne, What kind of wood did you use and where did you get the locks? PJ
Paul S Jennings

I used walnut. Locks came from the hardware store.
MG LaVerne

There's a pair on ebay, but they look like their made out of cheap plywood. I'll make my own when the time comes, unless I find a quality pair. I was thinking about engine turned stainless, but the wood might be more fitting for the year. Just a thought. PJ

Paul,
Something to think about:
As you wire your TF run an extra circuit for a switch to your wipers. Makes it much easier to turn them on after the locking covers are in place!
David Sheward 55 TF1500 # 7427

Now that's a thought! I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Dave, I would have never thought of that. PJ
Paul S Jennings

Trust me ...would have been much easier had I thought of it when mine was being re-wired and apart!
Have you seen LaVerne's mod for 2 speed MGB wiper motor to his TF? Vey nice!
Wipers on a TF = 2 words : Rain-x. LOL
