MG TD TF 1500 - Drip Pan source?

Several years ago one of our members made available a supply of oil drip pans for the bottom of the bell housing.

Does anyone know of a current source for a drip pan?

I have a friend with a leaky rear seal.

Thanks,
Mort

Declan has them Mort. Cheers

Mort,
Declan Burns does really good work. Well worth the cost. Will fit mine once I find a source of the yellow plastic scrounge pads - to fill the inertia and stop any slop. I mounted a spare water tap witch Declan kindly provided the correct mount for so it does not stick downwards. Just my preference.

A club member has rear seal oil drip catchers available at his cost plus shipping. They are well made. Color is "right."
$55 plus shipping.

I split some soft tubing to make a gasket for my drip pan.(I am hopeful that once the car is back on the road I will find that the drip pan is no longer necessary).

Mort, What transmission is that in your car with what appears to be a modified housing? Assuming it's your car. PJ

I got one from the UK, bryanpurves1@gmail.com was the gentleman.

Pound to Dollar is good for buying from UK right now.

This guy lists his on eBay, jagervasi@yahoo.com

Peter,
The basic tray is from Bryan Purves and I do the modifications for the side exit, the level indicator and the baffle. I have discussed this on the phone with Bryan recently and I suggested to him to do this as standard.
With my modification you do not have to crawl under the car with tools to empty it and you can see directly how full it is by just looking underneath. The side exit is exactly flush with the bottom of the tray so it can be emptied completely. You just have to cut out some of the baffle so the jiggle pin hangs freely and bolt the tray on. The tap is easily reached from the side of the car.

Paul,

It is a five speed from a Datsun 210 circa 1979. Steve Neal from Skyhook Engineering did the conversion about six years ago when he was still in business.
There is only one comment I have about the transmission.

I love it.

When I got mine from him in 2015 he still had some left at a cost of $56.00 including USPS - shipping.

Thanks Declan, I am hoping (and praying) that it does not have to be emptied too often.

She who must be obeyed has OK'd a lift for the garage, so I should be able to work underneath the car easily.

Peter,
Congrats!
You must have explained it to her correctly!
The government in this house is not so easy to overrule!

The advantage of course of the side exit is that you can empty it simply by kneeling at the side of the car, reaching in and opening the tap-job done.

Peter,
I was limited in space so I went with a single post hoist.

John Gervasi fabricates them and frequently lists them on ebay.

I was interested in the one or two post lifts but just don't cherish being under there...

The one I am going for is a parking style lift, I have 10' ceilings so with windshield folded I will have lots of clearance at full extension. The bottom of the tires will be just under 6' off the floor.

By sheer good luck, not planning I can actually have 2 cars in the bay, I have 28'7' and the TF at 12'3" leaves 16'4" for the 15' Mercedes.

Does anyone make a drip pan which does not require drilling a new drain hole in the event you have a finned sump?
C Blackstock

I may, I have 2, and will be swapping them, I have the red one above, covers my "cotter" pin.

Give me a few days.

I have had no complaints that my tray does not work with the finned sump but I do recommend re-locating the hole the next time the sump is off.

I like the Purves design because it appears to catch drips out of the drip hole AND what ever seeps out from between the sump and the bell housing.
I need to order one.
thanks,
