MG TD TF 1500 - eBay TC Price
Am I missing something, or am I completely out of touch with T-series prices? This TC is for sale on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321651588880?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It's up to $16,100 so far, with a few more hours to go. As far as I can see, it has a TD motor (which the seller will not put in the ad, despite being told), wrong interior, has been sitting for 45 years, "will need a total restoration", is missing the top, side curtains and running boards, and has a reproduction Guarantee plate. Finally, it has no title, just a Bill of Sale. Is this really what TCs are worth, or is there something I am missing? Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Indeed, and if you got it running it would have problems stopping. its a funny old market at the moment, J2 with a funny engine and gbox went for £13k the other day. Have you seen the Artcurial auction this friday? thats going to be wild. |

I dunno... as prices go up, I just keep enjoying the ride! ;) |

Notice the brass engine tag is put on with a screw. I wonder if that is the original TC tag on the TD engine. |

Yes. See my earlier thread, "TC Engine Replaced?" Up to $17,560, with an hour and a half to go. Tom Lange |

It's a little before four in the afternoon on 2/4 - I followed the link to the item and got there just as the last few seconds ticked down on the clock. It has sold for $ 18,675. Pretty steep considering what it is. If it were a true original it might be worth going for at such a price with a view to getting it into driving nick. For a full restoration that seems like a high entry price, even for a TC. BobbyG |

eBay is a guide, one of the many ways in which I try to arrive at a car's value. But sometimes an unusually high or low price is an anomaly, and not relevant for value. This TC feels like one of those. There are a lot of questions about this car, one that basically needs everything, and yet sells for $18,675. I still feel that a very fine TC can be bought for $35,000, a very, very nice one for $25,000, a decent driver for $20,000, a driver needing work for $17,000, and a car that has been sitting for a long time, doesn't run and needs engine, brakes, tires etc., for 14-15,000. Any thoughts? Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Prices have been going up for some time. That one went for a little more than it might in a personal sale, but eBay cars usually do. |
