MG TD TF 1500 - Edney Cam follower set

Ran across Peter Edney modified cam follower sets for XPAG/XPEG engine on ebay, curious if anyone has anything to say about them? It mentions larger holes for oil, but that is about all it says. 231778149460

The idea is that larger holes and sides grooves permit more oil to get past the cam follower to the cam, reducing wear. It seems a good idea, but no supporting evidence is provided. On the basis that it might work I ground some side grooves in my cam followers, but have since heard from other forum members that such modifications made no difference. Without a scientific test its hard to know for sure.

Vintage racers have enlarged the holes and cut the grooves Dave mentions for years. Whether it helps may be questioned but it definitely fiesta hurt.

But the cam is constantly getting splashed, soaked, inundated, with oil by the crank rotating at 3,500 + rpms.. Isn't that enough ???

Maybe so at 3500rpm, but what about on starting and at idle. Just possible the additional supply makes a difference. I just took the view that its unlikely to do any harm and may do some good, whilst it cost nothing to do.

Thanks. I suppose when there is no mention of a particular hardening process or particular grade of steel used to make them, or what size tolerances they meet, which indicates something special, they are probably (pretty much) the same as all the rest.

If they're coming from the Edney's they're quality...don't sweat it.

It works perfectly for me.

Gord, that's more than likely your security software. Not knowing what software you have, there is probably a setting to allow you to except the site. Works fine for me. PJ

Thanks.

Will resolve this.
