MG TD TF 1500 - Escort Service - No. Not that kind.
On another thread Alex Waugh, Washington, offered to participate in a segment of a trip for a fellow T'er who was on a long journey traveling through his area. There is no doubt that all of us locals know the secret, fun and enjoyable roads in our areas and the places to avoid. We would probably all love to share those experiences with visitors and most likely join them while they drive through our area. I was just thinking if we could find some form of technology that would allow people to register when and where they were planning a trip through our area and at least connect the parties in a more formal way than a broadcast on the BBS. We could even go so far as to create a registry of neat T friendly drives that people could pick from while planning a trip. This way if we could not join them they would at least have the information. Has anyone seen such a website out there or have some ideas on how we might go about creating one? I have a few ideas and lots of potential routes but don't want to reinvent the wheel. |

Excellent idea Chris and I would be interested in seeing such a thing happen and would be more than willing to participate. I would have several routes to contribute, in our Northwest area, due to my years of motorcycle riding on the backroads of Washington and Oregon in particular, but also including other contiguous states. Hope this materializes. Just having contact information for those who may need assistance while traveling in our areas would be a good thing to have. John |

John: Just having contact information for those who may need assistance while traveling in our areas would be a good thing to have. I used to carry various car club rosters with me for just this reason, but a 'emergency assistance registry' would be even better. Right now it looks like routes in Google Earth are one good technology here but we need some sort of web page for each route that explains what it is and why its important plus any other salient features. |

Facebook, but some people have trouble committing to use it. |

For roads in California, this is the best collection of sports car roads: www.pashnit.com |

Steve: I was excited about the pashnit.com site. They even have one of my roads cataloged. But I tried to register and they said: Sorry, auto-registration has been disabled by the administrator: If you want to join our free motorcycle discussion forum, send: 1) username, 2) password, 3) motorcycle, 4) City, State, 5) Do you also want to join PashnitRoads.com at $20/yr (Y/N) ...via email to pashnit33 AT yahoo DOT com . Once that's completed, you have the option to also join PashnitRoads.com at anytime. But I did check out one of their FREE roads. http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/MosquitoRidge.htm Its a really cool site. Maybe we could use this as a model or they would give us their technology that we can host here? I will email mail them to ask. They are actually headquartered a few miles from me :-) |

A register of local clubs so you can email and let them know you are coming - almost for sure some member will want to show you the local "secret" great road to drive. Tryon up the Saluda Grade and then over to Hendersonville and back to Greenville is the best "secret" ride in the Carolinas - JMHO Jud |
