MG TD TF 1500 - Eureka Heater
Now that the TF is almost done, I am restoring the heater. It is a Eureka under dash heater. It is presently painted black and is quite rusty. I was going to repaint it black, but found a little silver-grey paint, it almost looks like a "hammered" finish. I can't find any information on this heater. I would love to get some information on it, who made it, where it was made, what color it is supposed to be, etc. thanks, -David |

David, I think the Eureka heater was crinkle black and chrome. I had/have one somewhere and I think the front doors and plate the doors are mounted on is chrome. Possibly the door plate rotates. It also has decretive chrome piece's with narrow ribs on the front that wrap partially around the top and sides, if my memory is correct. It's buried in boxes with a few 1930s/40s heaters I have from when I restored American cars. Best I can do. Thing is, they made various models, so mine might not be like yours. PJ PS, If I can find it I'll see if a place of manufacture is on it. |

David, The Eureka heater I had/have is 6 volt. (Conversion to 12v needed). PJ |

This is not mine, but one like mine. Mine is painted black. It looks like it was painted with a paint brush. David ![]() |

David, I don't think you can go wrong with a hammer finish paint. It seems many of those old heaters used that type of finish or crinkle finish. It's really a restorers delight as you can bead blast the rust to clean metal but you don't have to surface it smooth! Jim |

Grr. It is up side down again! Here is another pic of the whole assembly. I have stripped it and started the restoration. |

Nice heater. Yours appears to be from the mid 50s and in nice shape, that would be cool! I believe the Eureka I have is from the 30s, not sure. I'm putting a Smith in the TF. PJ |

Hum. The picture did not load. I'll try again. The heater was a silver hammered finish, so I have begun painting it that color. The motor needed an overhaul too. I still need to find a place to mount the switch. Where is a good place on a TF? I don't want to drill a hole in the heater, or the dash. David ![]() |

Here's one like I have that mounts with a thumb screw anywhere there's a flange. Mine actually has a bulb in it and a translucent knob. I have to change the bulb to 12 volt as it has a 6 volt in it now. I have no idea what it's out of. PJ![]() |

David, I must apologize, my memory wasn't as good as I thought. The heater I have is a Tropic Air, not a Eureka. I opened up the box yesterday and it proved I was wrong, sorry. They look very similar. This is what I have and mine is like new. Found one on ebay not half as nice as mine and even missing parts! I was astounded at the buy it now price of $165.00. This is what I have as new; ![]() |
