MG TD TF 1500 - excessive oil in distributor

Having recently rebuilt my TD and had it running , I have found the the distributor is filling up with engine oil.
I contacted the dis. supplier, who had rebuilt the dis. ,and they examined it, ,checked all the clearances etc.,pronounced t perfect and returned it under warranty.
The scroll is correct for the direction of rotation, there is no wear, all bearings etc are new, there is no endfloat, and the engine is running perfectly apart from the oil build up.
The crankcase and rocker vents are clear, the oil level is correct, compressions are correct so there should not be any back pressure.
After about 100 miles, there is about a spoonful of oil in the distributor.
We are puzzled. Any ideas??

Lucas and MG knew about the problem of oil filling the insides of distributors, but it appears they were never able to stop the problem. For later T and Y distributors, and probably also M and W, they incorporated two drain holes, and I have attached a photo to show this. The distributor on the right has a boss in the waisted section with a hole through it, and there is a second boss and hole on the other side. The distributor on the left is an early one, and does not have the bosses and holes - the hole you can see is one of two that I drilled to solve, or ease, the oil problem.

Afternoon RA.
Thanks for the reply & photo.
I have thought about drilling a hole to drain off the oil, but will only do this as a last resort as it means that oil will dribble down the side. ( I have spent many happy hours dealing wit oil leaks & would regard it as a bit of a defeat!!)

Hopefully someone will come up with a solution.

does oil drip out of the marked hole on later distributors?

Rather than running 2 threads on the same subject, can we continue this discussion on the other thread entitled "My distributor fills with oil"?
I have moved my queries and comments over to it. Thanks.
