MG TD TF 1500 - Firewall grommet positions-TD

Bought the Moss firewall grommet kit, 6 pieces, and the temperature line grommet as well. All 7 pieces for my 1952 TD VIN-15169.
I do have a copy of the firewall layout showing:

1-Speedometer right side and Choke cable??, I've seen pictures of this (choke cable) on the bottom right side at the top of the foot well without a grommet.
2-Two in battery box, left side, bottom
1-Temperature line,left side, bottom
1-Main wiring harness left side
1-?? Top left side, blank 1" grommet??
1-?? 1" grommet, where??
Total 7 Grommets
I would appreciate it if somebody could explain where the ??? ones are or where they should be. As I believe mine have been moved around.
TIA
Cheers...Barry

RHD & LHD would make a difference Barry. Your address gives no clue. The RHD layout is shown in Malcolm Green's book & worth noting that there is no guarantee that Moss have the right components in their kit. I purchased a range of grommets from the local rubber franchise & used them where they would fit. Cheers

I have bought the moss kit twice now and they do not have the correct grommets in them. The water temp grommet is completely wrong as were several others that didn't fit. Still haven't found the correct water temp grommet.

Early TDs would not have had the water temperature gauge, hence would have had no reason to have the big hole in the firewall. Retrofitted cars may well have a variety of hole sizes to clear the large nut. Anybody know what the OEM hole size was? Bud

Bill: I don't think you will ever find a completely original temp capillary tube grommet at one of the parts houses. At least I have not found one.

I got my last one from Vintage Instruments in the UK and its not too bad. What's missing is that it's flat and not domed like my original. But I have seen what appeared to be originals that were flat too so maybe both are OK.

I have had a problem (thanks for the info Peter) with the "FROM" section, as it just shows gk6jd?? type of information, Could one of you tell me how to correct it, if it is not correct now?

Also, thanks every body for the info on the grommets.

And, while I'm at, is it Abingdon Spares or Moss who has the better quality rubber fume excluder for the Pedals and the leather steering column excluder? AS it appears like it's a fairly difficult to install them. Or, is there an easier way to seal the steering column?

AS beats Moss for quality, fit & originality on most items IMHO. Moss rubber is really poor quality. I'm also a big fan of FTFU where the TD & TF share items with the TC. Cheers

In the past, Moss pedal excluder was paper thin and quickly failed, recent one from Abingdon really thick to the point it was tough to install. Not sure difference for leather column one. Pedals excluder: just remove the pads/extenders, lube the rubber and slip on, etc. Column: have to remove the wheel and the mid-shaft mount and slide it over the outer column. Takes a few minutes but not a huge deal. George
