MG TD TF 1500 - Floorboard to pedal box gasket

Dear folks,
See (in the photo)the hole in the gasket and capture nut just forward of the master cylinder? What gets bolted there?

Just ordered heat/sound seal for the foot panel/tranny/driveshaft covers. Should have the TF floor completely installed before football on Sunday.

thanks,
Tyler

For the right front hole, I have a floorboard screw/washer that fits first through the metalpedal excluder retainer plate, then the rubber excluder/floorboard/rubber in your picture, etc. Nothing in the back hole on may car, but not sure that is correct. George

We've had this one before. Both holes are directly above captive nuts. Bud

okay, From top to bottom: pedal excluder retaining plate (PERP), rubber fume excluder, floorboard, then floorboard to pedal box pad.Two BSF flathead machine screws hold down the PERP: one is at the front right, and the other is forward of the MC.I see 4 other screws in JA's photo holding down the PERP. What type/size are they?

thanks,this is great help!

All,
What does screw into the capture nut just forward of the MC? My original floorboards do not have a hole drilled there. Also, I assume the excluder retaining plate is screwed down by 1 machine screw (in front) and about 5 small wood screws, correct?
thanks,
Tyler

Tyler, see http://www.ttalk.info/MGTDFloorboards5.htm . You are missing a hole. Take look at the version6 pdf file for the latest details. Bud

Tyler, the plate is held down only by wood screws. Bud

Tyler, the early TDs do not have the recess in the floor boards and use a cover that slides to access brake reservoir. Some have suggested the plate attaches with that screw.

Great info. Since I'm in the middle of replacing my pedal excluder and carpet, I'll see if the rear hole aligns and is useable. George

Tyler and I have had a few email swaps off forum. Here's what I found and sent to him:

Roy doesn't show a hole at that point. Looking at some images that I took of that area on 'the53' that I totally redid shows that I did put a screw through the rubber and into the captive nut. Not a flathead screw through the floorboard, a machine screw w/flat washer. I can see the depression of the rubber looking through the cutout. Not likely for it to have interfered with the screws through the plate, it's below the floorboard. At any rate, that's what I did, but as they say - YMMV. Bud

Here's the hole (photo). Guess I'll put a machine screw into it to secure the rubber pad a little more.
